Asahi-Health® is a health exercise developed by researcher Timo
Klemola, doctor Yrjö Mähönen, trainer Ilpo Jalamo and chief
executive, trainer Keijo Mikkonen.

New
multi-level health-exercise system
Asahi is
a multi-level health-exercise system, where the finest traditions of both the
eastern and western health-gymnastics meet. The movements open up the body
systematically from head to toe. The movements are soft and performed in the
rhythm of breathing. Asahi resembles physiotherapy with sporting elements. The
movements are intentionally designed so simple that everyone can practice them
instantly. There are no thresholds for participating.
Asahi
treats and prevents
Asahi-Health® fits for all and
every age. No special skills or basic condition are required. When developing
the movements especially the biggest health problems of the Finnish population
have been considered: the shoulder- and back problems, fractions due to falling
down and stress-related psychosomatic problems. Asahi is designed to both
prevent and treat.
Exercise takes place mainly in
instructed groups, but Asahi functions also as a form of daily self-treatment preventing various health problems.
Asahi suits especially well for short breaks and many movements can be
performed for example while sitting in front of a desktop.
The exercise rewards the
exerciser
Since the
movements in Asahi are simple, they are easily adopted. The Asahi way of moving
is slow and gentle and the movements and performed in the rhythm of breathing.
This kind of movement rewards the exerciser quickly by directing his or hers
state of mind into a positive direction.
